Had a great time at Night of Spectacles 2012!

After months of snapping, painting, drilling, sewing, and fitting...I was able to put together a pretty fabulous look for the Night of Spectacles 2012 fundraiser held at the Buckhead Theatre in Atlanta.  The event was a huge success as the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation raised over $200,000 for uninsured Georgians who receive sight-saving eye surgeries, eye glasses, and eye exams from the Lighthouse every year.

Check out a few behind the scenes pics and some notes on how I created this look!

I started with a box of eyeglasses that had been donated to Georgia Lions Lighthouse foundation...

Popped out the lenses and discarded the frames, then drilled a hole into each lens for sewing.  (I counted about 300 lenses) ...

Then I spray painted all lenses with a fluorescent green paint, added a 2nd coat of gold metallic to some, and let them dry for 24 hours.  I constructed the base garment in a hot pink satin fabric while the lenses were drying.  Starting from the bottom, I began hand sewing each lens onto the garment,  overlapping each one to hide the strings. I added a gold studded belt to finish the look.

... with my model, Dr. Jill Wells!

Sheree Whitfield, Housewives of Atlanta, served as one of the judges for the student designer competition.

This was an amazing experience & I look forward to doing it all over again next year!! xoxo
